Two more Leopard 2A4 tanks arrived in Přáslavice. This is another part of the donation of 14 tanks and one recovery vehicle, which the Czech Republic received from the Federal Republic of Germany for helping Ukraine.
On Wednesday, 21 December 2022, Minister of Defence Jana Černochová received from the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany, Benedikt Zimmer, the symbolic key to the first Leopard 2A4 tank that the Czech Republic received.
The ministerial meeting took place on the occasion of the delivery of the first Leopard 2A4 tank as part of the announced replacement for 30 pieces of infantry fighting vehicles (BVP-1) donated to Ukraine.
Under the German government’s “Ringtausch” equipment exchange programme, Rheinmetall will soon be supplying the Slovak Republic with main battle tanks and other military hardware.
The Slovak Republic will support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression with 30 BVP-1 vehicles from its stocks, while it will receive 15 Leopard 2 A4 tanks as compensation.
On Wednesday, May 18, Defense Minister Jana Černochová informed the Government of the Czech Republic that she had agreed with German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht on the donation of 15 Leopard 2 A4 tanks.
